These photos are from past Christmas sessions, your exact set up may look a little different from year to year. The session is in Mount Colah, nine minutes from Hornsby and close to Hunt Reserve, festive but simple, real light and real reactions rather than a stiff studio shot.

FAQ

Your Questions Answered

Santa holds dog, Mount Colah Hornsby

Santa is on site every session day. Including him in your photos is entirely your call, just tell me your preference when you book.

Santa Richard, the same one you see in the photos on this page. He was here last year too, so some kids will recognise him. Worth mentioning for this season: the beard is artificial this year, the rest of him is exactly the same.

No difference, both are $150. It just comes down to what you would like for your family.

Completely normal, more common than you think. We can start without Santa in frame and bring him in slowly, or skip him altogether. Your child’s comfort comes first.

Yes. Bring the gift wrapped and pass it to me quietly when you arrive, not to your child. I’ll keep your child distracted while it makes its way to Santa, so it stays a surprise. Santa hands over exactly the gift you brought, so it helps to prepare your child for that beforehand. The gifts under the tree are just props and empty inside.

Yes, by arrangement, but without Santa. There is an extra $40 fee, and it becomes more of a personal session with a bigger set of photos included.

Christmas patterns can actually look amazing together, think buffalo plaid, tartan, classic red and green. I had a family come in matching Christmas print shirts once and it looked incredible. Just try to keep everyone in a similar colour family so it feels put together. I also have Christmas props like antlers and hats if you want them, just ask on the day.

A double slot is a great idea in that case. More time, more photos, less pressure, and a bit longer with Santa too. You get 10 photos in your gallery instead of 5, so nobody feels rushed.

The path down to the house has a bit of a slope, and there are a couple of small steps and a short stretch of pebble path at the garden door. It’s best suited for those who can manage an incline and a few steps. A pram can be carried over that last bit.

Yes. Pets are welcome and count toward your group of up to 4 plus a pet.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we reschedule to a new date and your booking fee carries over. You don’t lose it.

Please allow 5 minutes to park on the street at the top and take a short walk down to the house. It’s just a little way down the hill and easy to find. The path is unsealed, with some grass along the way rather than paved ground, so comfortable shoes are a good idea.
